The day after the episode of Jonathon Creek called the Scented Room was first broadcast, Sam's agents, stagecoach, received a phone call from the team casting the pilot of Married. They were looking for somone, "like that boy in Jonathan Creek last night". Stagecoach were delighted to say that they actually had that particular boy on their books, so Sam was interviewed for the part of Ned Lightfoot for the pilot episode and was lucky enough to be cast for the role.
His school was not keen to let him take the time off, and actually refused to allow him to record the first series when he was offered the part, as SATS were approaching and they were keen to get as many good marks as possible. Consequently, Sam was educated at home for the best part of a year. He is now at a wonderful secondary school where they didn't bat an eyelid over him taking time off for the second series.
Apart from Jontahan Creek and Married, Sam has been in an episode of "The Big Train"
and in a BBC commercial for digital TV and is currently filming a CITV drama called "Gypsy Girl" due to be aired in 2001.
